Transparency

Every figure here is derived from the ledger, which is the book of record. Committed and granted are published separately: if they diverge, that is information you are entitled to.

Measurement period. Impressions are classed attended, unattended or unknown, and a session the classifier identifies as a machine (CI, no terminal, a container) is never served or billed. Until the attended rate is measured, the classes billed are attended, unknown, so the pool below includes revenue from sessions nobody could classify. This notice goes when billing narrows to attended sessions.

What agents read

A dependency is what a project installs; a retrieval is what the agent actually opened during a session. Both are published because both are what an advertiser buys reach into: a package being read is a package somebody is working in right now. Capture is opt-in and off by default.

Retrieval is recorded per impression and is deliberately not part of the dependency-set fingerprint. It changes from session to session, so hashing it in would give every session its own fingerprint and break the aggregate this page is built on, including the threshold that keeps one company's package list private. No file path is ever sent: the client turns paths into package names on your machine.

Methodology

Gross is what advertisers pay before any deduction. 70% is committed to the pool and paid out as fixed-term grants; the other 30% runs the business: processing, legal, infrastructure, salaries, and what is left reinvested in more ambitious bets on sustainable open source. Costs never come out of the pool, the fiscal host's fee included, so a grant arrives at the amount committed. Everything is integer micros, and the residual micro at the split goes to the pool.
